Reading Tea Leaves
The Manassas Journal, Sunday edition, has a column from some guy who offers advice as to how the Democractic Party in Prince William County can start winning elections. I suspect this is someone who belonged to the Party but left for one reason or the other since this is when these types of "suggestions" start appearing. And evidently he has some pull in the press to get his views spiffed up in a column.
Now I could join him about how crappy and spine less local Democrats are (after all the Manassas Democratic Party asked me to resign as its Chairman two years ago because I was gay). Or I could tell stories about how slutty and unprofessional the current ED of the VA Democratic Party was when she was just a lowly campaign worker in Manassas.
I don't kiss and tell.
However, anyone around here who thinks that local Democrats will not win local office sometime in the future is seriously mistaken. The pendulum is rarely in the middle but it is always swinging either to the right or to the left.
Local Republicans are a dying breed when one looks at the census demographics showing that more and more people are moving in who have not been here 2-4 years ago, they come from more progressive areas and they are non-white.
Wray, Aveni, Harover will be history in another 4-8 years as will the City Manger. Help Save Manassas will be the cry babies on the block wishing for a time that once was rather than is.
So advice from the former Democrat has been in the local newspaper may make for interesting reading today, but he and his kind fail to see what will actually occur in the future.

I think they asked you to resign because of your internet business. I hope they feel being gay is not a problem but selling porn is not what they are looking for in a leader.

Well...It appears that you were not informed very well either. The reason Tom was asked to resign had to do with the Mannassas Democratic Committee believing that porn was being sold. There was no porn being sold and this was later confirmed by the Democratic Party of Virginia's crack legal staff. I know this, because I was also asked to resign from the committee and I fought them on it. I won and stayed on the committee for another year. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before YOU start contradicting others!
